Day 30 & Day 60

I know there's not a big noticeable difference but I still wanted to share!!! The difference between these pics is 3lbs and an inch in my waist!!! Since starting exercising in March I have lost 7lbs and 2 inches in my waist!!! 5 1/2 months postpartum with just 5lbs left to get to my pre-pregnancy weight (I gained 44lbs during pregnancy so that's a good feat I think!!) and about 12lbs left to lose til I get to my goal weight. I've been running every day but Sunday and can see that it's paying off!

Zombies, Run!

Yes, run for your lives!! The zombie apocalypse has begun!...On my iPod. hahaha...

Almost 2 weeks ago I downloaded an app on my iPod called Zombies, Run! It's a running app that tracks your pace, distance, and time all within a game where you're running from zombies and collecting supplies for your little town of Abel. The longer you run, the more supplies you collect, the more supplies you collect the more you build up your base, and the more you build up your base the more people you save!! It starts off with 99 people and so far in the past 1 week 5 days that I've been using it I've been able to build that number to 148 with all the supplies I've collected. It's SO fun and it makes me WANT to run....So much so that on August 11th I, Kellsi Foster, will be running in either a 5K race or....drum roll please.....a half marathon!!

This coming Monday I'll start training. If I do well with it this summer and feel up to the challenge, I'll most definitely compete in the half marathon. If I don't feel quite up to par by then, I'll compete in the 5K. Either one is fine with me since I've never done these before! It's always been my goal to do it, but, I've just never done it, so, I figured since there are SO many race opportunities here in VA I'd better take advantage while we're here!! Plus this is a spectacular way for me to finally get back into shape (and be in even BETTER shape than I was pre-pregnancy)...

The game Zombies, Run! has made me think "What if something like this were to actually happen?" in the event that it DID happen, I'd most definitely want to be a survivor and save my family. But, how would I be able to save them if I couldn't run that fast or far because I was too out of shape? That would be devastating!!! I know Ryan would be able to save himself, heck, he's one of the most fit people I know, he goes running almost every morning (and with our 2 huskies nonetheless) he does p90x EVERY morning, AND pretty soon he'll be training for soccer once again (his season starts up again in August). So yeah, I know he'd definitely be able to take care of himself if he had to run for his life. But, what about me? I wanna be like that too! I don't work out (only) because I want to look good (yes, it IS one of the reasons, but who doesn't want to look and feel good?!). I want to be STRONG and have stamina, endurance, and the ability to  protect my children and myself....So, by golly, that's what I intend to do!!!!

Now, I am going to post some pictures that are a little bit, no, a LOT a bit, embarrassing...I'm going to post pictures of my body that I took, and will be taking, every month since March. It's going to help me see the transformation myself since when I look at myself in the mirror I still just see a body that makes me unhappy rather than the fact that changes ARE occurring!...So, please don't laugh. Don't judge me. And please don't compare my body to yours or anyone else's, good or bad!!

Also, bear in mind that in these pics, I'd only actually worked out for 8 days...and then both Scarlet and I got sick so there really isn't that big of a difference, but, I made myself get "difference" pics anyway because I DID lose 4lbs and an inch in my waist within those 8 days!

Pics on the left are Day 1. Pics on the right are Day 30.

Mr.Mom

I titled this post Mr.Mom because that's the song that came on the radio today as I was pulling into our driveway after a quick grocery run. I've always liked this song through the years, however, I never really paid much attention to the lyrics. I always thought, "Oh that's cute" but now this song just makes me smile and choke up a little because it's so true! Lol...I don't have toddlers running around yet, but, even with one small baby and 2 big dogs my days are full of things!
I don't think a lot of people realize just how much mothers do for their families each and every day. Like they say, motherhood is a full time job with no pay and no sick days, EVERY day is a work day and a break is hardly given! I think nursing mothers might even have it a little bit "harder" because you have a child who has to eat from YOU every 2-3 (give or take an hour or so) hours so you literally have to stop what you're doing to feed them. A typical day of things I do is: Laundry, dishes, clean the kitchen, sweep, vacuum, take the dogs outside (about every 4 hours), feed the dogs (3x a day), feed Scarlet (roughly 8 times a day), change diapers (like 5-10x depending on the day), play games with Scarlet (she is one of the most active little babies I know! She almost always has to be doing something and will let you know if she's bored lol), try to get Scarlet to take her naps (which can take up to an hour depending on how much she fights it!), give the dogs some love and attention....Not to mention trying to fit in some ME time with exercise, etc...This doesn't include days I have to go get groceries, take out the trash, clean the bathrooms, cook dinner (dont do it every night because Ryan works until after 9 sometimes so he just buys himself something and I'll make myself whatever) pay bills, and take care of anything else that might pop up in a day.

Anyways, my whole point of this post was to say how it's nice for men (as in LONESTAR who sing Mr.Mom lol...and my husband!)and people to acknowledge that being a mom is no easy task and it's just as much (if not more) work as someone who goes out and works 8-12 hours at a job.I'm grateful because I have a husband who knows that even though I'm a stay at home mom (who also works from home) I don't just sit at home watching tv or playing on the internet. I've got a household to maintain and people/dogs/things to take care of! Yes, I do watch movies and get on the internet, but, it's almost always when Scarlet is nursing, or taking a short nap (she is nursing as I type this, if you care to know lol)...

Oh.....to randomly change the subject lol....Monday I had my cosmetology state board practical exam...I was so nervous and my hands were pretty much shaking the entire 2 1/2 hours lol. I won't get to find out the results for another week, so, wish me luck!!!

Family Photo Shoot 4/30/2012

Here's about a quarter of the family pics we had taken.

Our Silly Life

Can I just say that I absolutely LOVE my family?....SO STINKIN MUCH!!!! Scarlet is the biggest blessing I have ever had in my entire life. Now I finally know what I've been missing out on for all these years...MOTHERHOOD! Aside from getting married and sealed to Ryan for time and all eternity, the day Scarlet was born was the happiest day of my life. HANDS DOWN. I am SO grateful that Ryan and I didn't wait 1-2 years to start a family, like we were originally planning...I know for a fact Scarlet was born at the right time for us! Some say that having a baby only adds stress to a relationship, but, not for us. Having Scarlet and parenting together has only brought Ryan and I CLOSER. I love it. I love him. And we love her!!

Once again it's been WAY too long since I last posted...Over 5 months. Yikes!!! So, instead of writing a novel I'll just summarize haha.

Ryan finished another year of school which means we only have one year left until he graduates with his Bachelors in business administration (from Southern Virginia University). Next summer we plan on moving to Alamosa, Colorado (where my parents live) because they have a nice college where Ryan can not only do airforce ROTC, but also get his masters in health care administration (he'd like to run a hospital and possibly a gym of some sort some day). He is still working at CVS Pharmacy as a pharmacy tech (he still enjoys it, but there are some days that are better than others for him).

I graduated from my cosmetology school this past April, took my theory (written) exam on April 24th, and passed. WOO!! Now, all I have to do is take my practical (hands on) exam on May 7th. If I pass (I should be positive and say WHEN I pass lol) then I will officially be a licensed cosmetologist in the state of Virginia. Yipee!! Lol.

Scarlet is now 5 months (and 2 days) old. She can sit up on her own without falling over, hold herself up on her hands and knees (in crawling position lol), and just recently started eating baby oatmeal (which she LOVES). She is a wiggly wiggly worm during changing time and loves to flip around while I try to get her diapers on and off lol. She is one of the happiest babies I've ever seen (lucky us!!!) and has such a cute and funny little personality!! She laughs at SOO many things, I'm pretty sure she'll have a good sense of humor when she's older (she was born into the right family for that, both mine and Ryan's sides have some BIG jokesters!) She absolutely loves our dogs Suka and Ella, and will sit there laughing her head off any time they play with each other (and even sometimes when they are just walking around the house haha). Oh, and one more thing. She is a GREAT sleeper! She sleeps around 8 hours in one stretch at night, which means good sleep for mommy and daddy!!

I am going to try my absolute hardest to keep a weekly update going from now on...and have some people who are gonna "bug" me if I don't lol....So, until next week, ciao!!!
